Our Mission: Desert AIDS Project meets the evolving medical and social service needs of people living with HIV/AIDS by providing direct services and advocacy, while working to prevent new infections through education and outreach.
Many changes have occurred in the course of the HIV epidemic in the U.S. Improved medical treatments are allowing infected people to stay healthy longer before contracting AIDS. Today, people are taking massive amounts of medications, and the life spans of people with HIV continue to lengthen. In spite of the advances in medication, however, the rate of infection continues to rise - especially among teens, women, and people of color.
Desert AIDS Project provides medical care and comprehensive support services to people living with HIV/AIDS in the desert community. Free, anonymous HIV testing is available, as well as counseling, home health services, legal assistance, and assistance with housing, medications, food, re-employment, and more. Prevention and education outreach is available to any group. As a fundraiser, D.A.P. operates 2 thrift stores: Revivals in Cathedral City and Palm Springs. To make a donation, volunteer, or for more information call 323-2118.
